Real Madrid stick with Unicaja

A dominant third quarter saw Real Madrid overcome Iberostar Tenerife 94-85 in Liga ACB on Sunday, keeping pressure on leaders Unicaja.

Real trailed by two points at half-time but outscored Tenerife 32-24 in the third term to set up their nine-point victory.

Rudy Fernandez (19 points) and Sergio Rodriguez (17) led the way for Real in Spain's capital, as the home side moved to an 18-4 win-loss record this season, just adrift of Unicaja (19-3), who had accounted for Gran Canaria 77-68 on Saturday.

Luke Sikma (22) and Nicolas Richotti (21) top-scored for Tenerife but lacked enough support against Real.

Barcelona crushed Gipuzkoa 71-58 on Saturday to sit third but were joined on a 16-6 record by fourth-placed Bilbao, who cruised past local rivals Laboral Kutxa 93-75 on Sunday.

In other results, Valencia won 81-76 at CB Estudiantes, CAI Zaragoza thumped Fuenlabrada 86-69, BC Andorra accounted for La Bruixa d'Or 80-64, Joventut prevailed 71-67 over Rio Natura Monbus and UCAM Murcia defeated Sevilla 96-83.
