Ray Allen released a statement earlier this week to let everyone know that he wouldn't be returning to basketball this season. The Trail Blazers must not have believed him.

Portland lost Wesley Matthews for the season on Thursday due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and thought Allen could be his replacement, according to Yahoo! Sports. The report claims Portland reached out to the veteran's agent Friday morning, but the 39-year-old didn't even consider the possibility of coming back.

Allen hasn't ruled out playing next season, but he's made it clear he won't be coming back any time soon.

The Blazers will need to look elsewhere to replace their injured guard. They are currently in third place in the Western Conference with a 41-19 record.
