The Toronto Raptors won the Atlantic Division for the second consecutive season by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 94-83 in the NBA on Friday.

Toronto snapped a two-game skid to wrap up the Atlantic title for the third time in their 20-year history, having claimed top honours in 2007 and 2014.

The Raptors (43-30) are 10.5 games clear of nearest Atlantic rivals the Boston Celtics (32-40), who edged the New York Knicks 96-92.

"We had three goals," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "One was to make the play-offs, two was to win the division and three was to continue on and win into the play-offs."

Jonas Valanciunas (19), Louis Williams (18), Bruno Caboclo (17), Amir Johnson (11) and Terrence Ross (10) all posted double-digit points.

The Los Angeles Clippers booked their spot in the post-season for a fourth consecutive season after routing the lowly Philadelphia 76ers 119-98.

Chris Paul starred with 25 points, while team-mate DeAndre Jordan scored 17 points and collected 20 rebounds to secure yet another play-off appearance for the Clippers (48-25).

Prior to 2011-12, the Clippers had only featured in the play-offs once in 14 seasons.

Rookie Nerlens Noel had a career-high game for the 76ers, finishing with 30 points and 14 rebounds.

The Atlanta Hawks clinched the top seeding in the Eastern Conference via a 99-86 win over the Miami Heat.

Top spot in the East was handed to the Hawks (55-17) after the Cleveland Cavaliers (42-27) lost 106-98 to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Golden State Warriors matched a franchise record of wins after they beat Western Conference rivals the Memphis Grizzlies 107-84.

Stephen Curry posted 38 points and 10 assists to inspire the NBA-leading Warriors to an eighth straight win and their 59th of the season.

The slumping Grizzlies (50-23), who have lost back-to-back games, were led by a combined total of 32 points from Mike Conley and Jeff Green.

In other results, reigning champions the San Antonio Spurs prevailed 94-76 against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Houston Rockets overcame the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-110, the Washington Wizards survived to beat the Charlotte Hornets 110-107 in double overtime, while Portland Trail Blazers saw off the Phoenix Suns 87-81.

The Denver Nuggets rolled the Utah Jazz 107-91, the Detroit Pistons were 111-97 winners against the Orlando Magic and the Sacramento Kings lost 102-88 to the New Orleans Pelicans.
