Nance Jr was drafted to the Lakers at No.27 in the first round but was immediately forced into damage control after an ESPN reporter unearthed the offensive tweet - which was published three years ago from Nance's Twitter account @larrydn22.

The tweet was quickly deleted shortly after it was uncovered with neither Nance Jr or Lakers yet to comment on the situation.

Bryant was arrested on sexual assault charges in 2003 but the case was dropped the following year when his accuser wouldn't testify in court.

Nance wasn't the only new draftee to regret a social media post from the past with new Chicago Bulls signing Bobby Portis apologising for two tweets sent in 2011.

Portis had a crack at Bulls stars Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol while also directing an insult at the team itself.

Portis tweeted an apology to 'Bulls Nation' shortly after it was announced he was heading to Chicago.

Be careful on social media, kids.
