Kelly Olynyk suffers gruesome pregame eye injury

Kelly Olynyk

With his team a half-game behind the Nets for the No. 8 seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference, Kelly Olynyk is suiting up for the Celtics despite suffering a gruesome a left eye injury.

During shootaround prior to Boston's game against the Pacers, Olynyk took an elbow to the face from reserve Shavlik Randolph.

“Kelly was playing his typical, one-on-one pregame with Shavlik (Randolph) and got elbowed in the eye,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said via Comcast SportsNet. “His eye blew up and so he went to the ophthalmologist to get sutured up and hopefully get some swelling down."

Despite the injury, Olynyk checked in at the 1:56 mark of the first quarter in crucial game for both teams.
