The NBA is looking into a recent physical confrontation involving Knicks coach Derek Fisher and Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes, according to Yahoo Sports .

The former Lakers teammates allegedly were physical with one another over the weekend in Los Angeles. Yahoo reports NBA security didn't find out about the confrontation until Monday.

The reason for the altercation, per the New York Post , is because Fisher is dating Barnes' estranged wife, Gloria Govan. When the Grizzlies player found out, he allegedly attacked Fisher. The incident took place at Govan's residence, per Yahoo and the Post. Govan is on the television show "Basketball Wives."

Fisher filed for divorce from his wife, Candace, in March after they were together for 10 years. Barnes has twins with Govan.

A source told the Post that Barnes drove 95 miles to LA to “beat the s—” out of Fisher. Another source said Fisher left the altercation with just "a few scratches" and won't press charges. The Knicks coach left the scene before police showed up, and Govan is planning to file a restraining order against Barnes, per the report.

UPDATE: Fisher left open the possibility of legal action while speaking with reporters before the Knicks' exhibition Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden (per The Wall Street Journal).

Fisher missed Knicks practice Monday due to "personal reasons." On Wednesday, he declined to comment directly about the incident.

The Grizzlies released a statement Wednesday evening saying the team is aware of the situation.
