Warriors guard Klay Thompson was diagnosed with a head contusion Thursday, according to his agent. He will undergo further testing Friday when he meets with a neurologist.

Thompson left Wednesday night’s game against the Rockets in the fourth quarter after taking an inadvertent knee to the head from Houston’s Trevor Ariza.

Although Thompson was cleared to play after the injury, he did not return.

There were ominous signs afterward, as Thompson’s ear canal bled and he threw up in the locker room. He also appeared to have trouble hearing in postgame interviews. The team later said he was dealing with “concussion-like symptoms" and would be monitored throughout the night.

Thompson's agent, Bill Duffy, told USA Today Sports the tests Thursday revealed no signs of a concussion.

"My understanding is that it was negative," Duffy said. "There were no issues."

Thompson still must pass the NBA's concussion protocol before he is cleared to play.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            .

Despite an ESPN report that the Warriors did not put Thompson through the protocol after his injury, Duffy said he had no problems with how the team handled the situation.

"I think Klay was communicated with," he told USA Today. "There was no pressure whatsoever. It's absolute that this was handled the right way, with communication between the team and us, so I see no issue whatsoever, or no need for scrutiny. ... To me, it's a non-issue as to how it was handled."

Golden State’s Splash Brothers have turned into the Bruise Brothers this week. Thompson’s backcourt running mate, Stephen Curry, suffered a head contusion in Monday’s game after landing awkwardly while trying to stop a layup by Ariza.

Both players will have several days to recover. The Warriors’ 104-90 victory over the Rockets clinched the Western Conference finals, 4-1. Golden State will face Cleveland in the NBA Finals beginning June 4.
