The Kings were so impressed with Nancy Lieberman's work with the Mavericks' D-League team and their own Summer League squad that they are offering her a permanent position.

“Definitely I’m going to offer her a job,” Kings vice president Vlade Divac told The Sacramento Bee on Thursday. “(Head coach) George (Karl) and I talked about bringing her back after she helped us at Summer League (in Las Vegas). She was terrific. She brings a different dimension. I think it is a nice opportunity for her.”

The 1996 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee later said she would accept the position. An announcement is expected next week.

Lieberman, 57, will be the second woman to coach in the NBA. Last year, Becky Hammon joined the Spurs as an assistant.

Lieberman played in the Women's Pro Basketball League and the WNBA and was hired as general manager and head coach of the Detroit Shock in 1998.
