James stars as Cavs beat Warriors

LeBron James' 42 points led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 110-99 win over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA on Thursday.

In a clash between two NBA title contenders, James stepped up with a season-high tally at Quicken Loans Arena.

James also had 11 rebounds and five assists as the Cavs improved to 37-22, still a long way behind the Warriors' league-best 44-11.

Kyrie Irving had 24 points, while Timofey Mozgov finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Steph Curry finished with 18 points for the Warriors, but he was only three-of-nine from three-point range.

David Lee managed a team-high 19 points for Golden State.

A 29-23 second quarter and 29-22 third were key for the Cavs, who sit third in the Eastern Conference.

The Phoenix Suns needed overtime to edge past the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-113 at US Airways Center.

Russell Westbrook had a triple-double of 39 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists, but his Thunder were eventually edged after forcing overtime.

A Westbrook lay-up led to a foul by PJ Tucker and he sunk the free-throw with seconds remaining.

Serge Ibaka blocked Markieff Morris' jump shot on the buzzer, but the Suns bounced back in OT to secure victory.

The Thunder sit eighth in the Western Conference, while the the Suns are 10th.
