A day after Steph Curry befuddled Chris Paul in Los Angeles, James Harden also made a major stride in this season's MVP race.

Harden scored a career-high 51 points and went 8-of-9 from 3-point range Wednesday night as the Rockets defeated DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings, 115-111.

Wednesday night marked the second time this season Harden has scored 50 or more points, joining Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses Malone, and Elvin Hayes as the only Rockets to ever accomplish that feat.

The 25-year-old guard also had eight rebounds and six assists, which included this alley-oop to Clint Capela.

Despite a losing effort, Cousins posted a monster triple-double, recording 24 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists. He also tallied six blocks and three steals.

According to ESPN, Cousins became the first NBA player to post a 20-point, 20 rebound, 10-assist and five-block game since former Kings star Chris Webber did it in 1999.
