Holy Cross has fired head basketball coach Milan Brown, ESPN reports.

The Crusaders (14-16, 8-10 Patriot) began the season with a 58-57 win over then-No. 25 Harvard, but began conference play with a dismal 1-5 record.

Brown's team ranked 315th in rebounding with 31.0 per game and was shooting just 42.1 percent from the floor, highlighted by a 31-for-84 performance in a 75-72 loss to Boston University on Dec. 31.

Last season, Brown led the Crusaders to an overall record of 20-14, good for third in the Patriot League. Holy Cross received an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament and had a 68-65 victory at Brown in the first round, its first in a national postseason tournament since 2004-2005.

Brown finishes his five-year stint with Holy Cross with a 56–67 record.
