The Heat guard underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a sports hernia. The Heat claimed the procedure was a success.

Napier averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 assists in just under 20 minutes per game. He led Connecticut to the NCAA championship last year and was part of the Huskies' 2011 championship squad.

Miami acquired Napier last June in a draft night trade with the Hornets, who had taken him 24th overall. The Heat, picking 26th, took North Carolina's P.J. Hairston, and later traded the rights to Hairston and second-round selection Semaj Christon to Charlotte for the rights to Napier.
