Hawks win 19th straight game, Raptors prevail in OT

The Philadelphia 76ers put up a fight but the Atalanta Hawks survived the challenge as they recorded a narrow 91-85 victory in the NBA at Philips Arena.

Philadelphia rallied from a 21-point deficit to hit the front on the road, taking a 83-81 lead courtesy of Nerlens Noel with three minutes left on the clock.

But that was as good as it got for the lowly 76ers as Al Horford tied the game before Dennis Schroder sunk a three-pointer with less than two minutes remaining to give the in-form Hawks a three-point buffer.

The Hawks, who boast the NBA's best record (40-8), were led by Horford and his double-double a day after pipping the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 28-year-old big man finished with figures of 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Paul Millsap and Schroder scored 15 points apiece for the hosts.

Noel posted 11 points and 10 rebounds for the 76ers (10-38), while Luc Mbah a Moute, Michael Carter-Williams and Jerami Grant all had 13 points each.

For the second straight day the Toronto Raptors won in overtime, this time against the Washington Wizards 120-116.

The Raptors saw off the Brooklyn Nets 127-122 in an additional period on Friday and backed that up with a four-point win in Washington.

Toronto led by as much as 21 points in the third quarter before being reeled in by the Wizards, who forced overtime.

The Wizards (31-17) held a 111-110 lead via two free throws from Paul Pierce with four minutes remaining in the additional period.

But the Raptors (33-15) went on a run, scoring six consecutive points - four of those coming from Kyle Lowry, who finished with 23.

Wizards duo John Wall (28, 12 assists) and Bradley Beal (26) combined for 54 points.

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers were also victorious on Saturday.

After crashing to surprise defeat to the Utah Jazz on Friday, the Warriors downed the Phoenix Suns 106-87.

Blake Griffin had 31 points and 13 rebounds as the Clippers upstaged reigning champions the San Antonio Spurs 105-85 on the road.

LeBron James registered 36 points and Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-90 for a 10th successive win.

In other results, the Detroit Pistons accounted for the Houston Rockets 114-101 and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Orlando Magic 108-93.

Zach Randolph's double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds led the Memphis Grizzlies past the Oklahoma City Thunder 85-74, the Milwaukee Bucks overcame the Trail Blazers 95-88, the Charlotte Hornets trumped the Denver Nuggets 104-86 and the Indiana Pacers lost 99-94 to the Sacramento Kings.
