Warriors, Wizards win series openers

Steph Curry guided the Golden State Warriors to a 101-86 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in the opening game of their NBA play-off series.

Curry had 22 points and seven assists as the Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference semi-finals.

It made it five straight wins for the Warriors to start the 2015 play-offs.

Klay Thompson (18 points) and Draymond Green (16) were the main support acts, with the Warriors shooting an impressive 50.6 per cent, including 13-of-28 from three-point range.

Marc Gasol had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who were outscored in every quarter except the last.

Zach Randolph (20 points and nine rebounds) also impressed at the Oracle Arena, where game two will be played on Tuesday.

The Washington Wizards opened their Eastern Conference semi-final series against the Atlanta Hawks with a 104-98 win.

Bradley Beal hit a game-high 28 points, while John Wall (18 points and 13 assists) and Marcin Gortat (12 points and 12 rebounds) both had double-doubles.

DeMarre Carroll scored 24 for the Hawks, who had double-doubles from Al Horford (17 points and 17 rebounds) and Paul Millsap (15 and 12).

The Hawks will also host game two on Tuesday.
