Steph Curry said his performances in the NBA play-offs have been some of his career-best, given the stage his Golden State Warriors are on.

Trying to take the Warriors to their first NBA Finals appearance since the franchise was known as Golden State in 1971-72, Curry has been an impenetrable force driving Steve Kerr's men to the brink of a fairytale championship.

Even Curry himself, who posted 40 points in the Warriors' 115-80 game three win in Houston on Saturday, conceded his performances will rank among the best so far in his seven-year NBA career.

"Yeah, because the moment is bigger, and any time you play well in games that matter, big time moments, it means a lot more," Curry replied, when asked if he is playing the best in his career.

"Just trying to be as consistent as I've been is the most important thing for me.

"Not putting up crazy numbers [necessarily], but consistently trying to help the team win is the biggest thing for me."

Ahead of a potential Western Conference title-clinching game four on Monday, Curry said another fast start in front of the Rockets fans was key.

"It was another hostile kind of play-off environment," Curry said of Saturday's game three, which the Warriors won 115-80 to open up a 3-0 series lead.

"The main thing for us was we wanted to start off the game on a good foot so that we could neutralise the crowd and moreso just get a decent lead because they obviously play a lot better at home.

"We were able to accomplish that and really never relinquished any kind of momentum.

"The score kind of reflected that.

"We expect the same situation tomorrow, understanding that obviously they're playing for their play-off lives and we're playing to advance, so it's going to be another intense atmosphere, and it's going to be huge to start off the game well like we did yesterday."

Rockets centre Dwight Howard said his side had to fight - something they did not do in their 35-point thrashing on Saturday.

"I saw quit from everybody in the arena. We can't have that," Howard said.

"Like I said, no matter how far you fall, you're never out of the fight. That's the way you've got to look at it.

"We may be down 3-0, but we've got to continue to fight. That's the only way.

"If we don't believe, then who else will? Just got to stay positive, stay together, stay focused."
