Barcelona, Fenerbahce improve records

Barcelona notched back-to-back Euroleague wins courtesy of a comprehensive 89-72 win against Zalgiris.

Barcelona crushed lowly Crvena Zvezda Telekom last week and they backed up that win with a routine victory at Palau Blaugrana.

Ante Tomic starred as Barcelona improved to a 3-2 win-loss record in Group E.

Tomic posted 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the home side, who led 51-33 at half-time after storming out of the blocks with an 18-2 run in the opening quarter.

Bostjan Nachbar had 15 points, while Justin Doellman and Mario Hezonja scored 12 points apiece.

Arturas Gudaitis (17 points) and Edgaras Ulanovas (14 points) led cellar-dwelling Zalgiris (1-4).

Panathinaikos joined Barcelona on three wins and two defeats after trumping Galatasaray Liv Hospital 86-77.

The Greeks had six players in double-digit points as they led from start to finish at Olympic Sports Centre Athens.

Janis Blums (16), Dimitris Diamantidis (14), Vlantimir Giankovits (12), Antonis Fotsis (12, 11 rebounds), Esteban Batista (11) and DeMarcus Nelson (10) all made solid contributions for Panathinaikos.

Vladimir Micov registered a team-high 16 points for Galatasaray, who dropped to 2-3.

In Group F, Fenerbahce Ulker extended their winning streak on the road to six games by defeating Unicaja 68-60.

Winless Unicaja (0-5) were no match for the Turkish side, who were inspired by Andrew Goudelock and Jan Vesely.

Goudelock (20) and Vesely (17) combined for 37 points.

Nemanja Bjelica added 14 points and 13 rebounds in a double-double display.
