The more success Dayton has under Archie Miller, the more likely it is he'll pack up one day and head for a bigger school. While that cycle is sometimes inevitable, the Flyers are doing what they can to keep him.

Dayton on Thursday announced it has signed Miller to a contract extension through the 2021-22 season. The move came four days after Oklahoma eliminated Dayton in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

"There is a lot to be excited about — success on the court, facility upgrades, and the student-athletes we have returning along with the newcomers coming into the program," UD athletic director Tim Wabler said in a statement. "But there is no question that one of the most exciting things about Dayton men's basketball is that Archie Miller is our head coach."

Miller, 36, is 90-47 in four seasons at Dayton and led the Flyers to the Elite Eight last season as a No. 11 seed. Dayton was the last at-large team into the field of 68 this year, and won on its home floor to advance out of the First Four before upsetting No. 6 seed Providence in the second round.

A former player at N.C. State, Miller served as an assistant on his older brother Sean's staff at Arizona before taking over at Dayton.
