Bogut: I've got my championship ring fitted for my middle finger

And Golden State Warriors centre Andrew Bogut has also chiimed in saying that he has his championship ring "fitted for my middle finger" following claims the team were lucky to win the NBA Finals last season.

The Warriors won their first title in 40 years at the expense of the Cleveland Cavaliers in June, but not everyone has warmed to Golden State's achievement.

Houston Rockets guard Ty Lawson felt MVP Steph Curry was afforded too much time on defence in the Western Conference finals, which the Warriors won 4-1 en route to the NBA Finals.

Rockets team-mate James Harden also claimed he deserved to be MVP ahead of Curry.

Bogut was asked by San Francisco sports radio station KNBR about the comments suggesting the Warriors were lucky to win the championship and he jokingly replied: "I've actually got my ring fitted for my middle finger.

"We respect all previous champs. We'll respect future champs. They don't want to respect us, so be it.

"We've got a ring. We did all the hard work. We know what it takes. We don't need any more motivation, but if they want to throw some at us, we'll definitely put it on a little board and be aware of that.

"It's one thing taking it from a team that's won a championship, taking those kind of criticism, but from a team that hasn't is kind of dead air."

Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers added his name to the list of Warriors critics this week.

Rivers claimed the Warriors were lucky not to play the Clippers or the San Antonio Spurs in the play-offs and Warriors guard Klay Thompson responded on Friday.

"That just makes me laugh. That's funny. Tell them I said that. That's funny, man," he said.

"I wanted to play the Clippers last year, but they couldn't handle their business [the Clippers lost to the Rockets in the play-offs].

"If we got lucky, look at our record against them last year [3-1 in the regular season]. I'm pretty sure we smacked them."
