Alex Len and Hassan Whiteside fined by NBA for altercation

Suns center Alex Len and Heat center Hassan Whiteside were both fined for their roles in an altercation Monday .

The NBA announced the fines in a press release Tuesday evening.

Phoenix Suns center Alex Len has been fined $20,000 for initiating an altercation with Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside and attempting to take him to the floor. Whiteside has been fined $15,000 for escalating the incident by wrestling Len to the floor.

The penalties were announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.

The wrestling match between Len and Whiteside broke out shortly after Whiteside dunked, and Len's arm came through his face. Neither player will be suspended by the NBA.

Len is averaging 6.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season for the Suns. Whiteside, possibly the top breakout performer of the NBA season, is averaging 10.8 points and 9.6 rebounds with the Heat.
