Adelaide 36ers tame Melbourne Tigers to reach grand final

The Tigers stayed alive by squaring the three-match semi-final series at 1-1 with a 98-87 win on Sunday, but they were swept aside in the decider as Adelaide reached their first grand final in 12 years.

Daniel Johnson led the way with 23 points at Adelaide Arena as the hosts rose to the occasion with a dominant display to end Melbourne's hopes of winning their first NBL title for six years.

The 36ers were without suspended guard Gary Ervin, but Jason Cadee proved to be a more than stand-in with a 19-point haul as the Tigers were well and truly tamed.

Adelaide led 23-14 at the end of the first quarter before stretching their advantage to 49-27 at half-time and there was no way back for the visitors, who were also comfortably outscored in the final two quarters.

The 36ers can now look forward to a Grand Final series against the Wildcats - which starts next Monday.
