Mills headlines squad

Homegrown NBA players Patrick Mills and David Andersen headline the Boomers squad that will look to defend its Stankovic Continental Cup title in China.

Europe-based players Joe Ingles, Brad Newley, Matthew Nielsen, David Barlow, Mark Worthington, Aron Baynes, Steven Markovic and AJ Ogilvy are also included in the 12-man team announced on Sunday.

NBL-based players Adam Gibson (Gold Coast Blaze) and Damian Martin of reigning NBL champions Perth Wildcats round out the team.

The Boomers will open the tournament with a clash against host nation and Asian powerhouse China (ranked number nine in the world) on Wednesday.

In Game Two, the Boomers will face off against powerful European team Slovenia, which is ranked 20th in the world, on Thursday.

Australia will then take on Iran (ranked 21) in its last preliminary game on Friday.

The Boomers are the defending champions of the tournament, after having defeated Turkey in the final last year.
