The Dallas Mavericks needed two periods of overtime before defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 97-94 in the NBA.
The 2011 NBA champions made a flying start to the match and led 25-14 at the first change.
They carried that 11-point lead into half-time but LaMarcus Aldridge (33 points, 12 rebounds) inspired Portland in the second half.
German Dirk Nowitzki had a chance to win the match in normal time but he missed his fadeaway jump shot, forcing overtime.
And Nowitzki repeated the dose in the first period of overtime as his late attempt missed, although Portland's Jamal Crawford also failed to land a three-point attempt in the dying stages.
It was to be third time lucky for Nowitzki though as he scored a crucial basket with 16 seconds to go in the second spell of overtime, which gave Dallas a four-point lead.
And that was enough for the Mavericks who won their third game in a row after a poor start to February.
In Minneapolis, the Jeremy Lin show rolled on as he shot 20 points in the New York Knicks' 100-98 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kevin Love (32 points, 21 rebounds) starred for the losers but it was not enough as the Knicks won their fifth match in a row.
The Charlotte Bobcats lost their 14th match in succession as Blake Griffin (21 points, 10 rebounds) fired the Los Angeles Clippers to an easy 111-86 win while Ty Lawson (27 points) played the main role in the Denver Nuggets' 113-109 victory against the Indiana Pacers.
San Antonio defeated the New Jersey Nets 103-89, with Tim Duncan collecting his ninth double-double of the season for the Spurs and a 37-point second quarter saw the Philadelphia 76ers cruise to a 99-84 triumph against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Dwight Howard was kept to just 11 points but his Orlando Magic side still toppled the Milwaukee Bucks 99-94 and the Phoenix Suns defeated the Sacramento Kings 98-84.
