The New Zealand Breakers have tightened their grip on top spot of the NBL ladder after beating fellow top-four team Townsville 81-70 at the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland on Thursday night.
The hosts got out to a fast start to lead 29-15 at quarter-time and, after facing stiffer resistance in the middle two quarters, outscored the Crocodiles 18-14 in the final term to complete a comfortable win.
Gary Wilkinson was once again the star for New Zealand with 18 points on 7-13 field shooting and 10 rebounds from only 24 minutes of court time.
And he had solid support in the form of Cedric Jackson (15 points, seven assists) and Thomas Abercrombie (13, seven rebounds).
Eddie Gill played a lone hand for the Crocodiles with 17 points.
Townsville are third on the ladder with five more matches left in their regular season.
