match in Istanbul, toughing out a 91-84 victory.

The Croats - inspired by top-scorer Roko Ukic with 20 points - led by as much as eight points during the second quarter, but the Slovenian side regrouped to lead at the final break by six and held on in a tight final stanza.

Compounding the result for the Croats was the injury to big man Luka Zoric with a leg injury.

Solid first- and third-quarter efforts from Iran helped them defeat Tunisia 71-58.

Tunisia finished with a flurry, netting 22 points in the final quarter to the victors' 16.

But it was not enough to secure a first win at the Championships for the minnows, who are now likely to be out of reach of the next stage as they face Croatia and Team USA in their final two group games.

In the later games on Monday, Argentina defeated Angola 91-70 while the USA held off a determined Brazilian outfit, winning 70-68.
