Australian basketball star Andrew Bogut is in doubt for the London Olympics after scans confirmed the Milwaukee Bucks centre has a broken ankle.
Injury-plagued Bogut rolled his left ankle early in Milwaukee's drought-breaking 105-99 win over Houston on Wednesday.
The 213cm big man landed on the foot of Rockets guard Kyle Lowry after trying to block his shot.
He is expected to miss the rest of the NBA season and is unlikely to be fit for the Olympics in July where he was expected to head the Boomers' campaign.
"Andrew returned to Milwaukee this morning to be evaluated by Bucks orthopaedic physician, and to undergo a MRI exam on his left ankle," Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced in a statement.
"The results of the MRI identified a left ankle fracture which will keep Bogut out indefinitely."
It' the latest in a string of injuries that have affected Bogut since he was taken as the NBA's No.1 draft pick in 2005.
The 27-year-old Victorian, still recovering from a horrific broken arm suffered in 2010, missed four games earlier this season due to a family medical situation and also missed a game against Dallas this month after he banged his head on the floor in the match prior.
In his 12 games this season Bogut averaged 11.3 points per match and a team-high 8.3 rebounds.
Bogut confirmed the injury on Twitter and thanked fans for their support.
"Thanks for all the support fans,(and hate from some) I will get back from this. Injury was beyond my control.First step, walking again," he tweeted on Friday afternoon.
