The Gold Coast Blaze have stayed alive in the race for a spot in the NBL finals with a comprehensive 73-60 win over the Melbourne Tigers on the road on Sunday night.
In a vital game that moves the Blaze up to sixth on the ladder, the visitors led from start to finish to snap a three game losing streak.
Adris Deleon was a standout for the Blaze, finishing with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Adam Gibson chipped in with 16 points.
For the Tigers Cameron Tragardh, who is the competition’s leading scorer, had a quiet night and was restricted to just 14 points.
Gold Coast had a narrow one-point lead at the first break but soon took control of the contest in the second term to extend the lead to nine.
They eventually got out to a 17 point margin in the third quarter before doing enough over the closing minutes to secure a comfortable win.
It was Melbourne’s third loss on the trot to keep them in fifth place, and now two wins behind the top four.
