Youngs undergoes shoulder surgery

Tom Youngs

The 27-year-old was injured in Saturday's 45-0 Premiership hammering at the hands of Bath and is not expected to play any part in England's November internationals against New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa and Australia.

Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "He had surgery on Monday and it will probably be three months."

Youngs had hoped to force his way back into Stuart Lancaster's England side after losing his place to Dylan Hartley, having missed the tour of New Zealand due to his wife being unwell.

His absence is another blow for the Tigers, who will also be without captain Ed Slater for the rest of the the season after he underwent knee surgery earlier this month.

Youngs will miss the club's first four European fixtures of the season.
