Felix Hernandez pitched his 10th career shutout

Felix Hernandez pitched a complete game in MLB on Friday, while the New York Mets' winning streak was ended.

Michael Pineda held the Mets to just one run on five hits in over seven innings as the Yankees ended the Mets' franchise record-tying 11-game winning streak with a 6-1 victory.

Pineda fanned seven and moved to 3-0 on the season.

For the 24th time in his 11-year career, Mariners starting pitcher Hernandez pitched a complete game as his team enjoyed a 2-0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

'King Felix' allowed just five hits and fanned nine Twins in his 10th career shutout.

Elsewhere, the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Atlanta Braves 1-0, the Boston Red Sox overcame the Baltimore Orioles 7-5 and the Cleveland Indians thrashed the Detroit Tigers 13-1.

The Chicago Cubs needed 11 innings to beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-3, the Tampa Bay Rays thrashed the Toronto Blue Jays 12-3 and the Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 3-2.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 3-0, the Los Angeles Angels got past the Texas Rangers 3-2 and the Pittsburgh Pirates were 4-1 winners against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Colorado Rockies overcame the San Francisco Giants 6-4, the St Louis Cardinals held out the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 and the Houston Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 5-4 through 11 innings.

The Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox were locked at 2-2 when play was suspended with an inning to play.

Jhonny Peralta, St Louis Cardinals —
 Peralta increased his average to .317 in Friday's three-for-four performance. His sixth-inning homer was his first of the season.  

Brandon Moss, Cleveland Indians — The star hitter of the night, Moss was three-for-five with two homers and a two-run double giving him an MLB season-high seven RBIs on the night.

David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox — Big Papi was two-for-five with a three-run homer, giving him 470 in his career. 

KEY INJURIES
Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig exited Friday's game in the sixth inning with a left hamstring injury. He is considered day-to-day after running to first base on a ground out. He was also hit by a pitch on the left knee in the first inning.

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers for precautionary reasons after taking a foul ball off his knee. He is considered day-to-day.

Marlins placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a lower back strain.

Mariners placed starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lat muscle.

Recovering from Tommy John surgery, Mets relief pitcher Bobby Parnell will be shut down for the next week due to forearm soreness experienced in a rehab appearance.

Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista (shoulder) remained out of the lineup Friday, but the team is confident that he will be able to avoid the disabled list.

SURPRISE PERFORMERS
Good: Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Harang did not get the win but the 36-year-old journeyman allowed just two hits in eight innings pitched with only one walk and six strikeouts.

Bad: Tigers starting pitcher Shane Greene entered Friday's game against the Indians allowing just one earned run. That quickly changed, as Greene allowed eight runs on nine hits in just four innings pitched.

FACTS OF THE DAY
With Danny Salazar's 11 strikeouts Friday, Indians pitchers now lead baseball with nine double-digit strikeout games. The Tribe led all of MLB with 72 in 2014.

Nelson Cruz's second-inning homer was calculated at 442 feet, his longest of the season. It was the fourth longest home run at Safeco Field in last five seasons, according to ESPN.

The Giants and Rockies are likely to play out a high-scoring game, with Tim Hudson and Jorge De La Rosa the starting pitchers.

Padres starter Ian Kennedy will face the National League West-leading Dodgers.
