Wrigley Field bleachers won't be finished until June

We knew Wrigley Field would have a different feel to it as the Cubs embarked upon an ambitious renovation plan for the ballpark, but this is a bit much.

The Cubs will play at least the first month of the 2015 season with no fans in the bleachers at all, and it might take until June for the outfield to be completely filled in, team president Crane Kenney said Monday during a media tour of the construction, via the Chicago Tribune.

The renovation plan calls for expansion of the left- and right-field bleachers, plus new concession stands and restrooms for the outfield patrons. Don't start thinking the bleacher creatures will be spoiled, though ...

The Cubs knew there were potential issues with the timetable considering the ferocity of Chicago winters, and weather has indeed been a factor. Kenney told reporters Monday that workers had lost five of the past nine days because of weather conditions.

Eventually, though, the ivy will be green and the Old Style will be flowing as summer settles over Chicago.
