A Florida woman is in the process of suing the Miami Marlins, after she claimed the team’s mascot - a foam-rubber shark named Bob - left her with serious injuries after biting her.

Beth Fedornak is suing the Marlins after she claimed “Bob the Shark” left her with, “permanent or continuing injuries in her neck and back,” two years ago.

Fedornak was left with the injuries after the mascot pretended to bite her head off on June 29 2013, when Miami faced the San Diego Padres at Marlins Park.

The incident occurred during the “Great Sea Race” - an event held during the sixth-innings break of every game at Marlins Park.

The lawsuit was filed on June 13 2015 (AEST), and cites that Fedornak felt pain immediately, “after the impact of the shark mascot’s head pushed down on top of her skull.”

Fedornak immediately notified Marlins staff about the incident, and the fact that she was in, “significant pain.”

The Bradenton resident claims that she built up $86,000USD in medical expenses, and is seeking damages, “in excess of $15,000USD,” after she, “suffered serious personal injuries, included but not limited to, injury to her neck, back and extremities.”
