A current Blue Jacket was voted the best player even though a former Blue Jacket statistically was, when all the while, the real MVPs should have been the guys keeping score.

That, in a sentence, about sums up the 2015 NHL All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio.

Team Toews and Team Foligno combined to score 29 goals, shattering the past record of 25 for the annual All-Star game, as Team Toews emerged as 17-12 victors Sunday.

Team Foligno's Ryan Johansen, a member of the hometown Blue Jackets, scored twice, had an assist and was voted by fans as the game MVP.

"I think I have a lot of fans in this building to thank for that," Johansen said, acknowledging the home cooking. "It's something I'll remember for a long, long time."

Jakub Voracek, who played in Columbus from 2008-11, led all players with six points (three goals and three assists), joining Mario Lemieux as the only players with that many points in a single All-Star game.

John Tavares also joined elite company, becoming the sixth player ever and the first since 2003 to score four goals in the game.

Voracek and Tavares were both members of Team Toews, which set even more All-Star game records with the most goals scored in a game at 17 and a single period at seven.

The teams combined for 11 goals in the second period, which was also a game record.
