A dominant second-half showing left Theo Walcott delighted as Arsenal ran out 5-0 winners against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

For the first time this season Arsenal won three league games on the bounce, with Walcott making his first top-flight start in more than a year - marking the occasion with his second goal in as many matches.

Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Hector Bellerin were also on the scoresheet, with four goals coming in the second half to lift Arsenal above rivals Tottenham and into fifth.

"The first half was quite cautious, Aston Villa came at us and had a gameplan, they pressurised us and going into the break we felt 1-0 was just deserved," Walcott told Sky Sports.

"In the second half, I can't think of a more one-sided game, to be honest. I noticed at the end when [Ashley] Westwood had a shot, all the Villa fans were cheering.

"It was a great victory."

He added: "When a team is at the top of their game everything happens for them, and everything happened for us; it seems to be that everything is happening for us at the moment."

Things are not happening for Villa as their goal drought stretched beyond 10 hours, giving them an unwanted club record.
