Vonn in control heading to Garmisch-Partenkirchen

LindseyVonn - Cropped

Lindsey Vonn continues her bid for the women's downhill title at the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, with the next stop Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany.

The American is a six-time downhill champion, and she is on track to add title number seven to her collection.

With two races remaining, Vonn (366 points) is well clear atop the standings.

Anna Fenninger (287 points), Tina Maze (246) and Elisabeth Gorgl (231) are all chasing her.

Viktoria Rebensburg (269) is third in the downhill standings, but her season is over after a left knee injury.

Vonn started the season incredibly well, winning at Lake Louise, Val d'Isere and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Those results have been enough to keep her in complete control atop the downhill standings, and she will take some catching with only two races remaining.

Fenninger has been consistent without winning this season, but a victory for the Austrian and struggle for Vonn would make for an interesting final downhill event of the campaign.
