Two former Vanderbilt football players convicted of rape

Two former Vanderbilt football players have been found guilty of rape and other charges stemming from a 2013 incident on campus.

Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg, both 21, were found guilty by a jury in Nashville on Tuesday. The pair will be sentenced on March 6, according to the Tennessean.

Batey was convicted of seven charges, including aggravated rape and sexual battery.  

Vandenburg was convicted of nine charges, including tampering with evidence and unlawful photography.

Two former teammates, Jaborian McKenzie and Brandon Banks, await separate trials in an incident that took place in the dorm room of an unconscious female student on June 23, 2013.

Aggravated rape charges carry penalties of 15 to 60 years in prison. Sexual battery charges may be penalized by eight to 30 years.
