Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is living a life full of story lines.

Everywhere he turns he’s asked about his three-headed monster at the quarterback position in Columbus. Tim Tebow, a former player under Meyer at Florida, is stepping back into the NFL with the Eagles. And on a more upsetting note, another former player under Meyer is now a convicted murderer.

During a brief interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Meyer discussed former Patriot and Florida Gator tight end Aaron Hernandez.

“It’s just horrible all the way around,” Meyer said of Hernandez’s recent trial where he was found guilty for the murder of Odin Lloyd. “I watched highlights of it … just horrible.”

Meyer pointed out Hernandez failed just one drug test while at Florida and was treated the same as any other player, but also acknowledged Hernandez was a “different guy.”

Before Hernandez was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 draft, Meyer said he warned Patriots coach Bill Belichick of Hernandez’s personality and background.

“(Hernandez) was a guy that a lot of people were asking about first-round or second-round talent,” Meyer said. “Coach Belichick is a friend of mine and of course I was very honest and I said you just need to keep an eye on him. Unfortunately, you can’t lock them up and keep them away from their homeboys … I guess that’s what happened.”

As for Meyer’s former and current quarterbacks, he said he’s excited for Tebow to get another chance in the NFL without so much media attention and, according to his indications, Braxton Miller will remain with the Buckeye program.
