The 2016 Tour de France will see a stage finish, a rest day and a stage start held in Andorra, as organisers of the race confirmed a return to the principality for the first time since 2009.
The entire route is to be revealed on October, 20 but representatives of the Tour and of Andorra met on Thursday to agree a memorandum of understanding.
Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour, and Francesc Camp, minister of tourism of Andorra, made the announcement, with this year's 2015 Vuelta a Espana also heading to Andorra in September for its queen stage.
A statement on the Tour's website read: "The Tour de France will return to the Principality of Andorra in 2016, seven years after its last visit in 2009, when Frenchman Brice Feillu culminated a long breakaway at the summit of Andorra-Arcalis.
"It will be the Tour's fifth stopover in Andorra, after the ones in 1964, 1993, 1997 and 2009."
The 2016 event will start with the Grand Depart from Le Mont-Saint-Michel on July 2.
