Titans close on top pick after loss to Jaguars

The Titans' ninth straight defeat saw them slip to a 2-13 record, with the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers the only other sides stuck on two wins.

Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst drove his side 287 yards on 24 completions for one touchdown pass, which put them in front in the first quarter - when he found Leon Washington with an eight-yard pass.

Rookie Jaguars playmaker Blake Bortles got his side on the board, finding Marcedes Lewis with a four-yard TD pass after Ryan Succop had slotted a 50-yard field goal to increase the Titans' lead to 10.

After half-time, Toby Gerhart crossed into the end zone on a one-yard run, before Jordan Todman's 62-yard TD run made it more than a one-possession game.

Succop's second field goal of the game, a 23-yard effort, gave Tennessee hope, but it was dashed on the final play of the game - when Sen'Derrick Marks sacked Whitehurst.
