Worth $131 million, Texas is 2014's most valuable college football team

Despite a disappointing 6-6 this season, Texas has the most valuable college football program of 2014.

Texas raked in almost $34 million from ticket sales for home games and another $31 million in football-related contributions and is worth an estimated $131 million, according to Forbes. That valuation is down from last year's $139 million.

Notre Dame's estimated value is up $5 million from last year thanks in part to an extension with NBC for its TV deal, thought to be worth close to $20 million annually. Additionally, the new College Football Playoff will pay the Irish $2.3 million annually.

Forbes estimates the value that college football’s top teams generate for four key areas: their athletic departments, their universities, their conferences and their local economies.
