Tennessee WR Von Pearson suspect in alleged rape

A statement from the Knoxville Police Department mentions Tennesse senior receiver Von Pearson as a suspect in an alleged rape that was reported at about 6 a.m. Friday.

The Knoxville News Sentinel has the latest update:

During the initial investigation, KPD investigators took statements from the victim, several witnesses, and alerted the Sexual Assault Center. This investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing. More information will be released when available.

Police say the victim identified Pearson, 23, in their report. Tennessee wide receiver Alton “Pig” Howard, 22, and defensive end Dimarya Mixon, 20, are listed as witnesses in the report. No charges had been filed by Friday afternoon.

Pearson is an up-and-coming receiver for the Volunteers. He was second on the team in receptions (38) and receiving yards (393) and led the team in touchdown receptions with five. He has also been running with the first team and received good reports on his play in spring practice.
