Tai topped the podium in the women's nanquan and nandao all-around event in Incheon on September 20, but was stripped of her medal by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) when she tested positive for banned substance sibutramine.

The 22-year-old chose to appeal her disqualification through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but a statement released on Thursday confirmed her challenge had been unsuccessful.

"The panel rendered its decision at 3.30pm [on Thursday], dismissing the application of the athlete and confirming the OCA decision to disqualify her from the games," it read.

"As a consequence, the medals in the women's wushu nanquan and nandao competition will be re-allocated by the OCA."

Indonesia's Juwita Niza Wasni received the gold medal having initally finished second, while Wei Hong of China moved up to the silver medal and Ivana Ardelia Irmanto of Indonesia took bronze after originally missing out on the podium.
