Super Bowl halftime: Patriots 14, Seahawks 14

Takeaway: The Patriots had a strong edge early in the game. They were driving late in the first quarter before Jeremy Lane intercepted Tom Brady in the end zone (Lane was injured on the play and did not return). The Patriots then forced the Seahawks into a punt and scored on their next drive when Brady found Brandon LaFell for the first score of the game.

The Seahawks would later respond with a touchdown drive of their own, highlighted by a 44-yard pass to Chris Matthews, his first catch of the season. Marshawn Lynch capped off the drive with a three-yard touchdown run.

New England responded quickly to Seattle's score, however. The Patriots drove 80 yards and scored on a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski.

The Seahawks didn't waste any time setting up a scoring drive of their own just before the break. Russell Wilson played a big role in leading the team downfield, finding Matthews in the end zone with a couple seconds left on the clock.

Turning point: The 44-yard pass to Matthews was a huge moment in the game. It set up the Seahawks' first score when it looked like the Patriots were taking control. Another big moment was a controversial running-into-the-kicker penalty after New England's first drive. Some viewers speculated the call should have been roughing the kicker, which would have given the Patriots a first down.

Hero: Brady had the best stats in the first half. He's led the team down the field multiple times and has been accurate — the Patriots' dink-and-dunk strategy has worked well. Matthews is the runner-up, as his first two career receptions played a huge role.

Goat: Wilson has not been amazing. He started off cold, and his first completion wasn't until the 5:36 mark in the second quarter. He started to play better near the end of the first half and played a big role in setting his team up for a touchdown at the end of the half.
