The inaugural College Football Playoff was an outrageous success, and now 14 cities want in on the action.

ESPN reported seven cities — Atlanta, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Miami, Minneapolis, Santa Clara and San Antonio — have placed bids on the 2018, 2019 or 2020 playoff title games. Seven other sites — Arlington, Houston, Indianapolis, New Jersey/New York, New Orleans, Orlando and Pasadena — are still undecided on whether or not to place a bid.

The deadline to place a bid is late May with the winners being announced in October.

The Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington hosted the first College Football Playoff title game and the next two have been awarded to Glendale, Ariz., and Tampa, Fla.

Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara opened last July and will host Super Bowl 50, but Minneapolis and Atlanta are both expected to have new stadiums built by 2018 and Sun Life Stadium in Miami is undergoing a $400 million renovation.
