The only Pro Bowl-worthy Jaguar probably won’t make it

Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Moss made headlines last week for a $600k sack, and now he wants to go to the Pro Bowl.

Marks, 27, needed a half sack in last Thursday’s 21-13 win over the Titans to put him over eight on the year and earn a $600,000 bonus, per his contract. He came through on the final play of the game and flashed Johnny Manziel’s money sign to GM Dave Caldwell. Now Marks wants his due and a trip to Arizona.

Marks is second among defensive tackles with 8.5 sacks, but his performance hasn't been enough to overcome the fact he plays for a small-market team with a 3-12 record. Marks finished 13th in fan voting behind marquee names like Ndamukong Suh, Vince Wilfork, Sheldon Richardson and Marcell Dareus.

To make the game, Marks would need heavy support from players and coaches — but even that might not be enough.

"If it happens that way, then I say that the whole Pro Bowl voting and balloting is all BS," Marks said, via an ESPN report. "How do you look at it? Do you look at it as a guy that plays good on a good team or a guy that plays good on what you consider a team that doesn't have the record? I thought it was supposed to be the guy who plays the best at that position that year."

Marks, a six-year veteran out of Auburn, set career highs this season in sacks and tackles (42). He said a Pro Bowl nod would be an honor not only for him, but for the entire Jags defensive unit.

"As a personal goal you hope that you make it," Marks said. "You hope that you are first-team and you don't have to be an alternate. If it happens, that'll be great. That'll be awesome. Great stamp on the career, not only for me but for the group.

"Like I said, I didn't do any of this by myself and I can admit that and I can own up to that. So it'd be great for not only me but for my group."

The Jags close the 2014 season with a road game against the Texans. Pro Bowl participants will be announced Tuesday night.
