Seahawks edge Broncos in Super Bowl re-match

Champions Seattle opened up a 14-point lead in the second quarter at CenturyLink Field, courtesy of two touchdown passes from quarter-back Russell Wilson.

However, a fourth quarter rally - inspired by Broncos playmaker Peyton Manning - saw them tie the game at 20-20 after 60 minutes.

Two Manning TD passes, including a 26-yard completion to tight end Jacob Tamme before a successful two-point conversion, levelled the scores.

However, retribution for their trouncing in the Super Bowl in February was not on the cards, as Marshawn Lynch's six-yard TD run in OT sealed the win for Seattle.

Wilson ended the match with 258 yards gained from 24 completed passes, while Manning threw 31 successful passes for 303 yards - both playmakers nabbing two TDs and also throwing an interception.

The Dallas Cowboys tied a franchise record, as they arrested a 21-point deficit to reel in the St Louis Rams 34-31.

Tony Romo's touchdown pass to Dez Bryant, a 68-yard play early in the third quarter, was the highlight of the Cowboys' comeback.

The Cincinnati Bengals, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Arizona Cardinals all maintained perfect 3-0 records on Sunday.

Cincinnati trounced the Tennessee Titans 33-7 with four touchdowns - three of which were rushed - Cardinals quarter-back Drew Stanton threw two TD passes in their 23-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers and the Eagles edged the Washington Redskins 37-34.

A last-second Justin Tucker field goal handed the Baltimore Ravens a 23-21 win over the Cleveland Browns.

A defensive Detroit Lions outfit silenced the Green Bay Packers 19-7.

Andrew Luck had a day out with four TD passes, as his Indianapolis Colts thrashed the Jacksonville Jaguars 44-17.

Tom Brady, meanwhile, threw the lone TD pass but it would be enough for the New England Patriots to triumph 16-9 over the Oakland Raiders.

In other results, the New Orleans Saints did not concede a TD as they beat the Minnesota Vikings 20-9, Rashad Jennings ran for a career-best 176 yards to help the New York Giants beat the Houston Texans 30-17, the Kansas City Chiefs were too good for the Miami Dolphins 34-15 and the Pittsburgh Steelers held off the Carolina Panthers 37-19.
