Report: Boston College signs Steve Addazio to extension

Steve Addazio

Steve Addazio, who has led Boston College to back-to-back winning seasons, has reportedly agreed to a long-term deal.

Addazio surfaced earlier this month as a possible candidate for the coaching position at Michigan. That won’t happen now, as Addazio and Boston College have agreed in principle to a contract extension through 2020, according to SI.com's Pete Thamel.

The Eagles are 7-5 this year going into the Dec. 27 Pinstripe Bowl against Penn State. They were 7-6 in Addazio’s first season in 2013, a marked improvement from the team’s 2-10 mark in 2012 — the season before Addazio arrived.

Addazio, who coached two seasons at Temple before moving to Boston, has a 27-22 career college coaching record.
