Ray Rice lost millions when the Ravens terminated his contract last fall, but the running back left Baltimore with a nice financial cushion.

Rice and the team settled his wrongful termination grievance for $1.588 million, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday. Rice was due to make a $3.529 million base salary in 2014.

The parties reached the settlement just before a scheduled hearing before arbitrator Shyam Das in January, but the financial terms had not been disclosed. Rice filed the grievance in October, weeks after he was cut by the Ravens when video surfaced of the running back punching his then-fiancée in an Atlantic City casino elevator.

With the settlement, Rice collected a total of $26.588 million from the $35 million contract he signed in July 2012, the Sun reports.
