Ray Rice will avoid jail time for striking his then-fiancée, now wife, Janay Palmer in an elevator, knocking her to the ground in an Atlantic City casino.

The former Ravens running back was charged with felony aggravated assault, but in May he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program. Rice completed that program and a judge told ABC News he would sign the dismissal order Thursday.

The program is targeted toward first-time offenders who meet certain conditions.

Rice was suspended by the NFL following his actions, and eventually released by the Ravens. He has not signed with a team and there hasn't been much chatter of a team being interested in his services.
