"We have completed that (domestic-violence) investigation," NFL general counsel Jeff Pash said (via Chicago Sun-Times) during the Associated Press Sports Editors meetings last week. "(Special counsel for investigations) Lisa (Friel) and her team completed that investigation (and) did not establish a violation of the personal conduct policy. We informed the player and the (NFL) Players Association."

The 49ers released McDonald after it was learned San Jose police began another investigation in December after a hospital reported a possible incident of domestic violence involving McDonald.

He hasn't been charged in the second incident, which the NFL continues to investigate.
