After the Cowboys selected Randy Gregory with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft, the Nebraska defensive end decided to address his off-field issues that include a failed a drug test for marijuana at the Scouting Combine in February.

“That’s something I’ve definitely been working on and something I can definitely fix,” Gregory said, via The Dallas Morning News . “I’m 22 years old, but I think I carry myself real well and I think I need to carry myself a little bit better as far as decision-making goes. I think a lot of people are getting tied up in the weed and think it’s just a weed problem. I don’t think it’s a weed problem. I think it’s decision making. I think I’m immature. I’m definitely working on that. I want to prove everyone wrong and I want to do it with this team. I think this is the best team I can do that with.”

Gregory, who failed two drug tests during his time at Nebraska, admitted to struggling with marijuana use for several years but claimed he had not smoked marijuana since December. The failed drug test at the combine in Indianapolis was allegedly the result of elevated levels of THC from particularly heavy consumption.

“I haven’t touched it,” Gregory said. “I’m feeling real good, too. This is a high in itself, to be honest. I’m high on life right now, and I don’t want to lose this high.”

To ensure he stays out of trouble, the pass rusher requested that the Cowboys' institute a support system to help keep him under control off the field. He is now entered into the league’s substance abuse program, which mandates that he be tested frequently.

"I don't wake up every day saying, 'I'd really love to go smoke,'" Gregory said in March, via NFL.com . "It's not a struggle for me every day (now), it really isn't. In the past, hell, yeah, it's been a struggle. It really has been. Now, I'm focused on my dream."

Gregory, 22, had 17.5 sacks and 29 tackles for losses in two seasons at Nebraska.
