New England players are known for giving cliché answers to media questions, and the team's newest members have apparently obliged to the Patriot way.

The rookies, made available after Thursday's OTAs, seemed reluctant to go off the script.

STEELE: Tom Brady's muscle flexed in Pats' Deflategate surrender

A question posed to third-round pick Geneo Grisson: "You told us on the conference call right after you were drafted that you're a big hockey fan. How does a guy who grew up in Kansas and went to Oklahoma get into hockey?"

"Just playing video games," he responded. The reporter followed up by asking, "So you've never played or anything like that?"

Grisson's response: "No, I'm just here trying to get better." Another reporter asked if Grisson liked the Bruins because he played with them on the video game. ... "I'm just here trying to get better, guys."

Here's an exchange fourth-round pick Shaq Mason had with a reporter.

"Have you had a chance to meet Tom [Brady]?"

"I have."

"And what did he say to you?"

"I mean, I'm just focused on now."

Mason treated Brady's name like Harry Potter characters treat Voldemort's. Don't you dare mention it!

Some media members took notice of the hilarious non-answers from Patriots rookies.

"Yesterday was an unprecedented number of side-stepped questions by Patriots rookies. You actually felt bad for them," said radio hosts Toucher and Rich. "They were racking their brains for clichés. They were looking for anything to not directly answer a question."

Toucher and Rich were amused by the whole situation, but not everybody found it funny.

You can watch more of the exchanges here.
